Fortunately, it works great on my\u00a0Belkin N600 Wireless Dual-Band N+ Router and Optimum&#8217;s network.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the steps to set up the\u00a0REC10 Wifi Range Extender on an existing network. Those are easy steps but you could be confused if you don&#8217;t have the guide. This is the guide for Windows 8, but you absolutely can do the same on Mac OS X or older Windows versions. Let&#8217;s check out the step-by-step tutorial.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 1: Connect to REC10<\/h2>\n<p>Once plugging the REC10 to power outlet, it will be automatically turned on and you can easily find a new Wi-Fi network named <strong>Amped_REC10<\/strong> in the list. Click on <strong>Connect<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4887\" alt=\"amped-wireless-setup-1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techwalls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/amped-wireless-setup-1.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"503\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.techwalls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/amped-wireless-setup-1.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.techwalls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/amped-wireless-setup-1-300x216.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then, you will see a prompt asking do you want to set up the router. Select &#8220;<em>No, just connect<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4882\" alt=\"amped-wireless-setup-2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techwalls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/amped-wireless-setup-2.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"550\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.techwalls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/amped-wireless-setup-2.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.techwalls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/amped-wireless-setup-2-300x236.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Step 2: Access Dashboard<\/h2>\n<p>Open the newest version of your browser like Chrome, Safari or Internet Explorer (avoid using Firefox) and enter the following address:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>http:\/\/setup.ampedwireless.com<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If there is any problem, try this address:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>http:\/\/192.168.1.240<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If you still have problem connecting to the address, you can use an Ethernet cable to connect your PC directly to the Wi-Fi range extender and then try again.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the Dashboard you will see.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4883\" alt=\"amped-wireless-setup-3\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techwalls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/amped-wireless-setup-3.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.techwalls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/amped-wireless-setup-3.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.techwalls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/amped-wireless-setup-3-300x193.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Step 3: Set up Extended Network<\/h2>\n<p>Click on Scan to start finding all available network to extend. You will see the list like below:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4884\" alt=\"amped-wireless-setup-4\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techwalls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/amped-wireless-setup-4.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"465\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.techwalls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/amped-wireless-setup-4.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.techwalls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/amped-wireless-setup-4-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select the network that you want to extend. Make sure that the signal strength should be greater than 70%. If it is lower, you should find another location for the REC10 which is between your wireless router and dead zone.<\/p>\n<p>Enter the security key for your existing network and click on Next.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4885\" alt=\"amped-wireless-setup-5\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techwalls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/amped-wireless-setup-5.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"443\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.techwalls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/amped-wireless-setup-5.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.techwalls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/amped-wireless-setup-5-300x190.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Enter the network ID and security key for your extended network. You can click on Clone Settings to use the same security key and a similar Network ID.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4886\" alt=\"amped-wireless-setup-6\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techwalls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/amped-wireless-setup-6.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.techwalls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/amped-wireless-setup-6.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.techwalls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/amped-wireless-setup-6-300x193.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After that, you will need to wait about 2 minutes. The REC10 will be rebooted and you will be disconnected from the network.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 4: Connect to the new Extended Network<\/h2>\n<p>Now, you will need to reconnect to the new extend network. Then click on the checkbox &#8220;Confirm that you are now connected to your Extended Network&#8221; to finish.<\/p>\n<p>The setup process for the Range Extender is now completed. You can start using the new and stronger network.
