I spent the last few weeks using the new Microsoft Surface Pro 3<\/a> and this seems to be the most stable Windows device I’ve ever used. The high performer had done\u00a0a great job until a few days ago, when I couldn’t turn it on.<\/p>\n

The scenario is I\u00a0shut down the Surface completely at the end of the day, and when I tried to press on the Power button to start the machine 2 days later, the screen stayed dark and there was no sign it could turn it on again. I wasn’t really terrified because I encountered\u00a0issues with Windows laptop very often and fortunately there’ve been always solutions. If you have the same issues, here are the steps to fix it.<\/p>\n

  1. Make sure your Surface Pro is charged<\/strong>: One of the most popular reasons is that your device is running out of battery. You can try charging the device for a few minutes before trying to turn it on. Notice that the light on the magnetic connector must turn on when you attach it to the Surface. Besides, sometimes the charger is defective and it won’t charge your Surface when you plug it upside down, so you should try plugging the connector in both directions.<\/li>\n
  2. Reset the device<\/strong>: If the first trick above doesn’t work and your charger is perfectly fine, you should try a complete reset now. Press and hold the Power and volume-up button at the same time for about 30 seconds. Release both buttons, wait for 10 seconds and then press the Power button to start up the device. This trick worked great for me, however, the same issue happened just a few hours later. So, I go to Update and Recovery in Windows 8.1 to\u00a0download and install the latest patches and bug fixes. I haven’t seen the issue happen again since then.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
